12th Grade CWU English 101

2nd Semester Course               (Grades 12)            Credit (English)

For students to be eligible for college credit there are prerequisites for the course: Student must score 500+ on the SAT Critical Reading, or 19+ on the ACT English, or 88+ on the Compass Reading and 8+ on the Compass E-write, or 95+ on the Accuplacer Reading Comprehension and 5+ on the Accuplacer Writeplacer, or 3+ on the Smarter Balance Exam.

GHS has partnered with Central Washington University and is offering ENG 101. Composition I: Critical Reading and Responding Students will receive their high school credits and may earn 4 college credits from CWU. However, the college credits will cost the student $220 for the semester. The cost is set and directly paid to CWU, so it has the potential to change. A parent/guardian meeting is required to purchase college credits. This course is described in CWU’s course catalog as a course that develops skills necessary for academic writing, including summarizing, reading sources critically and responding to them, synthesizing multiple perspectives, and using academic writing conventions.
