ELD - Systematic English Language Development Class

Students are placed in the course based on English Language Proficiency as defined by ELPA21 State Assessment. Students then exit the course when they reach a transitional level.

Systematic English Language Development allows time designated for language instruction driven by students’ English Language proficiency level.  Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice the foundational language they need in order to fully participate in social interactions, classroom discussions and collaborative work, as well as rigorous content instruction.

The curriculum follows a scope and sequence of language skills with a focus on oral and written language in grade-appropriate and relevant tasks.
