AP United States Government & Politics

Yearlong Course          (Grades 12)         Credit (Social Studies)

Prerequisite: Senior Status

This course is designed to provide students an analytical perspective on government and politics in the United States.  The course includes study of general concepts, but students will also become familiar with the specifics of various institutions, groups, beliefs, and ideas that make up the United States Government.  Due to the challenging nature of the course, it is imperative to keep up with the readings and work load.  Students will have ample opportunity to demonstrate that they are academically competent learners, effective communicators, productive individuals, culturally aware individuals, and involved citizens.  Students are encouraged to take the AP test and such this course is designed to prepare students to pass the national college-level Advanced Placement Examination.
