World History

Yearlong Course          (Grades 10)         Credit (Social Studies)

Designed to complete 10th grade graduation requirement

World History is the story of the human community how people lived on a daily basis, how they shared ideas, how they ruled and were ruled, and how they fought. Students will study major turning points that shaped the modern world. The major emphasis of this course is to understand historic people and events and be able to relate them to geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts. The goal will be to focus on ten main themes: Culture and tradition, continuity and change, Geography and history, individual action, groups and institutions, government and democracy, science and technology, economic factors, global connections, and civil rights and responsibilities.
