Calculus 1 & 2

In this year long course, students will be developing new models and methods to reason as well as solve problems that confront them.This course is a rigorous study of differential and integral calculus. It is expected that students who enroll in this course will take the AP exam for calculus. They will utilize the Common Core Math Practices to make connections, discover relationships, develop strategies, and explain their thinking. The typical course schedule is: 1st Semester: Calculus Preview, Rates, Sums, Limits, and Continuity, Slope and Curve Analysis, The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Derivative Tools and Applications, and More Tools and Theorems. 2nd Semester: Related Rates and Integration Tools, Volume, Pre-Calculus Review, Convergence of Series, Polar and Parametric Functions, and Approximating Functions and Error. Learning to think critically and collaboratively as well as practicing precisely communicating your thinking are skills that will be useful in future math courses, in other parts of your high school career, and in your life.
