Bridge to College Mathematics

Yearlong Course          Grades (12)          Credit (Math)

In this year long course, students will be developing new models and methods to reason as well as solve problems that confront them. They will utilize the Common core Math Practices to make connections, discover relationships, develop strategies, and explain their thinking. This class is offered to students who are seniors and have not met Washington State standards in Math. The typical course schedule is: 1st Semester: Algebraic Expressions, Equations, Measurement and Proportional Reasoning, Linear Functions, and Linear Systems of Equations.
2nd Semester: Exponential Functions and an Introduction to Logarithms, Quadratic Functions, and Summarizing and Interpreting Statistical Data. Learning to think critically and collaboratively as well as practicing precisely communicating your thinking are skills that will be useful in future math courses, in other parts of your high school career, and in your life. The Bridge to College Mathematics course is a math course for Seniors.  The course curriculum was designed around a subset of CCSS-M high school content standards to support Washington State college readiness success and emphasizes modeling with mathematics and the CCSS Standards for Mathematical Practice.
