Chemistry, a lab science, is the study of the properties of matter and the changes it undergoes. This course includes instruction in: atomic and molecular structure; chemical bonds; conservation of matter and stoichiometry, gases and their properties, and solutions. Students will also learn science laboratory safety, use the scientific method, participate in investigations and experiments, and use various tools and instrumentation. The primary purpose of the class will be to provide students with the skills and understandings needed for future science classes and/or careers in science.
