Culinary Arts is an advanced foods class and preparatory class to careers in the food industry. Students will be required to obtain a food handler’s card at the beginning of the semester and participate in various catering events throughout the year. The cost of the food handler card is $10. This fun-filled class will teach students different methods of cooking and baking and how to make food look aesthetically appealing through various labs. Students will also earn knife safety, knife cuts, plating/garnishing, restaurant employability and serving skills, and that food preparation is an art. Menu planning and budgeting for those menus will be an important aspect of the course. Scholarships to culinary institutions are also available to students who have taken Culinary Arts.  FCCLA is the student leadership component integrated into this class.
