Semester Course       (Grades 11-12)          Credit (CTE/Elective)

Students learn about what it is like to be a teacher, while working with younger students.  Student will write lessons, learn about instructional strategies, and classroom management. Students will work regularly in the elementary schools with elementary students one-to-one, in small groups and in whole classrooms.  The class will be year-long and be two periods each day.

The main goals of the class are:

·  Learn about and practice being a teacher

·  Connect to college teacher-preparation programs

·  Overcome barriers and access college upon graduation from high school.

The goal of the GHS Teacher Academy is to recruit high school students to become teachers.
